Energy AI – ENAI

The ENAI project develops an innovative AI-powered energy assistant designed to optimise energy consumption, generation, and storage for households, businesses, and energy providers. By integrating conversational AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), big-data analytics, and automation, ENAI enables intelligent energy decision-making, reduces operational costs, and improves energy efficiency. The project will validate the solution in real-world environments, strengthen its commercial readiness, and contribute to the EU’s digitalisation and green transition objectives.

Name of the Project: Energy AI – ENAI

Reference number of the Grant Agreement: DIGIT.2.2.01.014

Project Summary:

GEP is developing ENAI, an AI-powered energy assistant that optimises energy consumption, generation, and storage for households, SMEs, and large enterprises. ENAI combines conversational AI, RAG, big-data analytics, and automation to provide energy insights, reduce costs, and support energy suppliers and equipment operators.

Currently at TRL-4, ENAI has been validated in a controlled environment. This project will advance it to TRL-6 through expanded data integration, intelligent control capabilities, backend optimisation, and pilot deployments with households, SMEs, public buildings, and energy companies. ENAI addresses the growing demand for intelligent digital energy services driven by the energy transition, rising adoption of distributed energy resources, and increasing need for efficient energy management. The project will strengthen commercial readiness through business planning, customer validation, and investor preparation, delivering a scalable, privacy-compliant AI solution aligned with EU digitalisation and energy-efficiency goals.

Project Activites:

A1) Project, Innovation & Financial Management

A2) Prototype Solution Development

A3) Validation in a Laboratory Environment (TRL-4)

A4) Validation in a Relevant Environment (TRL-5)

A5) Commercial Validation & Business Development

Project objectives and expected results

The project aims to advance ENAI, an AI-based energy assistant, from TRL-4 to TRL-6 by expanding its functionalities, integrating additional data sources, and validating the solution in real-life pilot environments. The objectives include improving AI-driven energy optimisation, enhancing user interaction, increasing system reliability, and supporting both end-users and energy companies in making better energy decisions.

Expected results include:

  • a fully integrated and validated ENAI prototype (TRL-6)
  • successful pilot demonstrations with households, SMEs, public buildings, and energy companies
  • validated business model and market potential
  • strengthened commercial readiness through business planning, investor preparation, and customer engagement, enabling future market deployment and scale-up
